Kano's Diaries

Since his college days, Jigoro Kano kept his personal diary in English. He was fluent in the language, as well as German and Chinese, among others. In his mastery of several styles of ju Jitsu, several languages, Chinese literature, Western political philosophy and educational theory, Kano was probably a genuine polymath, a person of such high intelligence that mastery of several diverse areas was easier than the struggle that most persons undertake to become masters of one discipline.
