Fujimi-cho Kodokan

The Fujimi-cho Kodokan was the first Kodokan specifically built as a Judo practice hall., in 1893, consisting of 107 tatami (173 square meters). This painting by Shuzan Hishida shows Jigoro Kano on the platform at the left. It was replaced by yet a larger Kodokan in 1906, the Shimotoisaka Kodokan.
